Dear colleagues, friends, co-workers and lovers of monuments!

 

This year's Bardkontakt 2022 is already the jubilee XXX. vintage. Jubilees are usually accompanied by a balancing - looking back over the past period: What has it brought us? Where did it take us? And usually it's also a stimulus to think about - where and how next?.

 

In the case of the Bardkontakt conference, it can be stated that this happy and beneficial event proved that every year it brings themes / stimuli / confrontations aimed / directed not only at the preservation of cultural heritage and our historical settlements and their centres, but also towards their development. And I believe that this will not only be the case this year, but that the tradition will continue for years to come.

 

This year, in addition to the jubilee of Bardkontakt, we also meet with other jubilees that are related to the main subject of Bardkontakt - to monuments and more broadly to our cultural heritage. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Natural and Cultural Heritage. This convention has significantly contributed to the worldwide increase in attention to cultural heritage, its transience, but also its importance for the further development of human civilization. At the same time, she reminded that man and his works are always in some relation to the interaction with the surrounding environment, with nature, which always influences / conditions the actions of people.

 

And this year we will also commemorate last year's anniversary of our monument care

- The 70th anniversary of the founding of the Monuments Office of the Slovak Republic, which we did not commemorate significantly in the online space last year. We will look at the individual periods of the monument and their benefits.
 

We have therefore formulated the theme of this year's Bardkontakt 2022:

 

PROTECTION OF MONUMENTS IN SLOVAKIA
in mosaic of events, processes and personalities

 

Partial topics of the conference:

• milestones in the development of monument protection (organizations, legislation, methodological, ...),

• personalities shaping / influencing the protection and use of monuments,

• organizations and institutions active in the protection of monuments,

• stimulating implementation of monument protection,

• other social, technical, political activities supporting the preservation and active use of monuments,

• international cooperation in the field of monument care and its impact on the preservation of monuments in Slovakia (charters, conventions, international organizations ICOMOS, IFLA and others).

This year's Bardkontakt 2022 conference will once again provide a space for interdisciplinary discussion - especially for uncovering white spaces in the knowledge of monument protection, exchange of views, controversy, and exchange of experiences between participants in the processes concerning the protection of monuments.

in the conditions of their protection, restoration and management of monuments, presentation of problematic ones also, inspirational examples, and more.

 

Employees of the Monument Office of the Slovak Republic, the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia, representatives of municipalities, members of the Slovak Chamber of Architects, the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers, the Slovak Chamber of Restorers, experts from academia, homeowners, building authorities, investors, designers, members and representatives of citizens' initiatives, enthusiasts and anyone interested in the subject are invited to discuss it.
